The city has prepared many interesting activities, workshops and events to make the winter break from school full of excitement. Whether your child enjoys physical activity, art classes or is interested in science, there is something for everyone in Katowice. In this article, we'll give you tips on what to see, where to go and which activities to take part in.

Municipal Public Library - "The library from behind the scenes"

The Municipal Public Library in Katowice invites children aged 7 to 12 to take part in the 'Ferie z Książką' event under the motto 'The Library from the Kitchen'. Participants will have the opportunity to go on culinary journeys, learning about regional cuisines from Poland and around the world. The programme will include arts and crafts workshops and literary discussions. This is an excellent opportunity to combine a passion for reading with discovering the secrets of healthy eating. Participation in the activities is free of charge.

Urban ice rinks

Winter is the perfect time for ice-skating! There are several ice rinks in Katowice where children can try their hand at ice skating. Worth a visit:

  • Ice rink on the Market Square in Katowice - This is a unique place in the heart of the city where you can skate under the open sky. The atmosphere of winter fun is complemented by the possibility of warming up with hot chocolate in the nearby cafés.
  • Ice rink in Murcki - This is a more intimate venue, ideal for families with children. The rink is open to both beginners and more advanced skaters. Skates can also be hired here.

Swimming pools and aqua parks

Burowiec swimming pool - Located at 2 Konna Street, Basen Burowiec offers a swimming pool and a leisure pool with water attractions such as massagers, geysers, a Jacuzzi and an 80-metre slide. The facility also has a sauna area with Finnish and Turkish saunas and a sports hall.

Brynów swimming pool - Located at 104 Kościuszki Street, the Brynów Swimming Pool is a modern sports and leisure facility. It offers a 25 m x 16 m sports pool with six lanes and a leisure pool with a paddling pool 80 cm deep, water massagers, geysers, an air bench, two Jacuzzi tubs and an 80-metre slide. In addition, a sauna area with Finnish and Turkish saunas and a gymnasium are available.

Interactive museums and exhibitions

Silesian Museum - As part of the holidays, it has prepared special educational activities for children. Through interactive exhibitions, the youngest can learn about the history of the region in an interesting and engaging way.

Silesian Planetarium in Chorzów - This is the largest and oldest planetarium in Poland, located in the heart of the Silesian Park. During the winter holidays, it offers astronomical shows, science workshops and interactive sessions that allow children to discover the secrets of the cosmos and fascinating astronomical phenomena.
