Summer and holidays are in full swing. Everyone is looking forward to their holidays, which most people associate with the sound of waves and sandy beaches. No idea what to do this weekend? Check out which beaches and recreational spots are worth visiting.
Three Ponds Valley
Dolina Trzech Stawów is one of the most beautiful and popular recreational areas in Katowice. It is located in the central part of the city, near Francuska Street, which makes it easily accessible for residents and tourists. It is an excellently connected place, with numerous bus and tram stops nearby.
The site is a complex of three picturesque ponds that offer a wide range of activities. In high season, the beach is guarded by lifeguards daily from 10am to 6pm, ensuring the safety of all bathers. It is an ideal place for family picnics, sunbathing and water bathing.
In addition to the bathing area, the Three Ponds Valley also offers many other forms of active recreation. There are cycle paths, running trails and places for Nordic walking in the park. In the summer season, water bikes and canoes can be hired, allowing even closer contact with nature and water.
What's more, it is also the venue for many outdoor events, festivals and concerts that attract the town's residents. The park also has several refreshment points, where you can enjoy a tasty meal after an eventful day. For the youngest visitors, there are playgrounds and team game fields.
By far one of the greatest assets of the Three Ponds Valley is its natural beauty. Green meadows, picturesque ponds and numerous trees create an atmosphere conducive to relaxation and outdoor recreation. Many people choose this place for walks with the family, picnics or simply moments of relaxation in the shade of the trees.
Morava Pond
The Morawa pond is located in Katowice's Szopienice-Burowiec district. It is an area full of greenery that attracts residents and tourists wishing to relax by the water. Easy access by public transport and the availability of parking spaces make it a popular place to visit, especially on summer days. What's more, since the beginning of August 2022, Morawa Pond has become a much safer place thanks to the presence of lifeguards. It is now an ideal place for families with children and people who want to safely enjoy the water attractions.
Lifeguards encourage the use of designated swimming areas (marked with buoys) and appeal to avoid entering the water after drinking alcohol. Safety is the priority here and the presence of lifeguards ensures a peaceful holiday.
The Morawa Pond also offers a new boathouse, which is sure to please sailing enthusiasts. In addition, cooperation with local scout troops and the opportunity to take part in sailing activities adds a unique and one-of-a-kind character to the place.
The beach is equipped with basic amenities such as toilets, changing areas and refreshment facilities. There are also walking and cycling paths around the pond for active recreation in nature. There is a playground for children and beach volleyball courts for adults. It is the perfect place for a picnic, a family day out or just a lazy afternoon at the beach. There are also plans to further revitalise the area, meaning we can expect even more attractions in the future.
