What is the NOSPR in Katowice?
NOSPR stands for the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra - an institution that has been in continuous operation since 1935. Although it had its beginnings in Warsaw, it has been associated with Katowice since the late 1940s. Today, it is a showpiece of the city, as well as the entire Silesian region. It is here that the following events take place world-class concertsconducted by eminent conductors and featuring music stars from around the world.
Modern premises
In 2014, the NOSPR moved to new premises in the Cultural Zone, just a few minutes' walk from Spodek and the Silesian Museum. The building, designed by Konior Studio, immediately attracts attention with its elegant red brick mass and modern interior.
However, the greatest pride of the NOSPR is concert hall - one of the best in Europe in terms of acoustics. It was designed in collaboration with Japanese sound master Yasuhisa Toyota. The interior combines elegance with the warmth of wood, creating an amazing atmosphere for music lovers.
