Museum Night 2025 in Katowice - visit, discover, enjoy until midnight!

May is one of those months that encourage people to get out of the house and enjoy the city's attractions. This year, Katowice's residents and visitors have a unique opportunity to do so - the Night of Museums, which will take place on 17 May 2025. It is a night when the city really does not fall asleep. Museums, cultural institutions and even government offices open their doors late into the night and invite you to tours, artistic events, concerts and workshops. All for free or for a symbolic fee. What exactly is planned in Katowice for this year's Night of the Museums? Here are our recommendations!

Silesian Museum - Night Reconstruction

Let's start with a venue that attracts crowds every year - the Silesian Museum. This year the event is called "Night Reconstruction". What does this mean? A multitude of events scattered throughout the museum - from workshops to art installations to concerts. The organisers promise it will be a night full of art, light and sound.

Visitors can look forward to, among other things, special guided tours of the exhibitions, performative activities and relaxation zones with live music. If you want to feel the atmosphere of the industrial space of a former mine combined with modern art - this is a must-see place.

Museum of the History of Katowice

On Museum Night, a visit to the Katowice History Museum is not to be missed. The exhibition "In a bourgeois tenement house" takes visitors back to the times of old Silesia. You can take a peek into the interiors from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and find out how the people of Katowice used to live.

Also worth seeing is the exhibition "From the history of Katowice", which shows in an accessible way the development of the city from a small settlement to a modern metropolis. An additional attraction of the evening will be a concert by students of a class of historical plucked instruments. This is an event for everyone who likes to learn about history in an interesting and engaging way.

Silesian Voivodship Office

This is one of the few opportunities of the year to take a look inside the Silesian Voivodship Office and the Silesian Parliament. During Museum Night, these buildings can be visited with a guide. The programme includes a visit to the representative Sejm Hall, the Marble Hall and the unique treasury.

Another big attraction is a ride in a paternoster lift - a nationwide rarity! It is advisable to arrive early, as the number of places in tour groups is limited. The tours last until midnight and take place in groups every 20 minutes.

Porcelain factory

Lovers of industrial spaces will certainly appreciate the participation of the Porcelain Factory in the Night of Museums. This unique place on the Industrial Monuments Route opens its doors for night tours. In addition to the opportunity to learn about the history of the factory, visitors can count on interesting shows and presentations related to porcelain production. This is a great place to end the evening.

How to prepare?

If you are planning to attend Museum Night, it is worth checking the programme of events and planning your itinerary in advance. Some attractions require advance booking or registration - especially if it's a guided tour. It's also worth getting comfortable shoes and something warmer to wear - May evenings can be chilly.

Museum Night is not just about visiting exhibitions. It is a special time when spaces that are usually closed become accessible and culture literally takes to the streets. If you like the atmosphere of unhurried discovery, night-time conversations, city lights and music resounding in the museum halls - make sure to plan the evening of 17 May in Katowice.

And after an intense cultural evening, we invite you to a EuroHotel Katowice.
