Katowice with children

Dirty and uninteresting?
For many years Katowice was associated with industry, air pollution and mining. Since then, however, much has changed in Silesia's largest city. Many modern office buildings have sprung up, pedestrianised streets, trendy restaurants and pubs have appeared, the main railway station has been rebuilt and the Silesian Park has been modernised. Today, in the capital of Silesia, you will find plenty of cool places and even more attractions for children and young people!
Major tourist attractions of Katowice
Although it is one of the youngest European metropolises, the city of Katowice boasts some interesting architecture. In the midst of Art Nouveau architecture, we find elements of eclecticism, modernism or, last but not least, neoclassicism. Also considered architectural pearls are the former workers' towns of Nikiszowiec and Giszowiec, which, preserving their original character, allow us to go back to the beginning of the 19th century, to the first years of Katowice's industrial development. It was here that director Kazimierz Kutz filmed his famous Silesian triptych.
Despite its industrial history, Katowice is considered one of the greenest cities in Poland. Forests and parks occupy half of the city, and all greenery covers 2/3 of the city's area. Hiking and cycling trails, as well as horse trails, have been laid out in Katowice's forests. Katowice's parks are famous places for walks and meetings. Every year, Kościuszko Park hosts a variety of cultural events, which enjoy both the surrounding nature and the music.
